Il nuovo sistema \u00e8 stato sviluppato su richiesta dell'F-35 Joint Program Office di Hill AFB. Oltre che con l'F-35, il nuovo sistema \u00e8 stato convalidato con altri comuni aerei da combattimento come strumento multipiattaforma. I partecipanti hanno utilizzato il nuovo sistema di recupero per sollevare e trasportare un F-16 con un guasto simulato all'ogiva. Il nuovo sistema \u00e8 in grado di recuperare i caccia disabilitati con carrello anteriore o principale collassato o danneggiato ed \u00e8 progettato per superfici morbide e irregolari e per superfici dure. Il sistema riduce al minimo il rischio di danni secondari ai velivoli di quinta generazione e ad altri caccia, massimizzando la sicurezza del personale.
