Experts in Disabled Aircraft Recovery from five allied nations gathered at Woensdrecht Air Base in the Netherlands in October to evaluate a new Fighter Aircraft Recovery Transporter System introduced by AMS Aircraft Recovery. The new system was developed at the request of the F-35 Joint Program Office at Hill AFB. In addition to the F-35, the new system has been validated with other common fighter aircraft as a multi-platform tool. The participants used the new Recovery System to lift and transport an F-16 aircraft with a simulated nose gear failure. The new system can recover disabled fighters with collapsed or damaged nose or main landing gears and is designed for soft and uneven surfaces as well as hard surfaces. The system minimizes the risk of secondary damage to 5th Gen and other fighter aircraft while maximizing safety of personnel. Strong interest in the AMS Recovery Transporter was shared by the participants.
